Let's skip Winter & go right to next Spring??

$11.68 for 2 outdoor/indoor pillows & large herb planter ($2.99, $2.99 and $4.99)

Stocking up for next summer already?? Yup! I wanted one of these planters all summer long, and almost bought one at the Farmers Market for $15. The pillows are great - and will replace the ones that were on the deck furniture for the last 2 years.

Now if we could just get this darn winter out of the way...

Go Big or Go Home!

$16.99 for all these HUGE home furnishings.
($2.99 each for pillows, $6.99 for candle holder & $2.99 wicker star decoration)

The lady behind me in line kept talking about what great design pieces these are, and I agree with her!
I put them by our fireplace just to show how large they really are... (and they are really big!)

Last Hurrah of Summer

$23.99 ($9.99, $6.99 & $6.99) for
Franco Sarto L-Blast sandals, Tyler Rodan purse & Etienne Aigner leather purse.

These were all too cute to pass up!
Retail price on the Tyler Rodan is $79, and the shoes are $89.95 retail.

DIY day at Goodwill

$10.62 for a DIY bench makeover project
($4.99 bench + $4.99 curtain panel + tax)

This little bench was calling my name, it has some great details and is really heavy wood. Could be antique...?
It was great, but the floral fabric was screaming "RUN! Run far away!".

So I found the perfect thick 54 x 84 inch window panel to reupholster it with! (This will match my home office perfectly & I'll use material at the bottom of the curtain so I can still hang what's left to break up the white curtains I have in there now.)

Update: This was literally the easiest project I've ever done - using the skills I've learned by watching hundreds of hours of HGTV, it only took about 15 mins, and that's only because I had to reload the staple gun.

I think it turned out great, and my kitten, Uncle Rico, seems to agree :)

Fall is in the air!

$17.45 for the basket, 3 decorative plates, 6 metal napkin rings, and home accents by Willow.

(The two pumpkin plates & napkin rings were half off that day, so it was an even better deal.)

It's starting to feel Fall-ish, even though it's only the middle of August.
To this I say: Break out the cider and let the Fall decorating begin!

Chico's Belts

Yup. You see the original Chico's price tag still attached that says $62.
I paid $6.99 each, and they are MUCH prettier than they look in this picture.

It's just the Wino in me :)

2 metal trivets, 2 wine bottle shaped plates, and table mat: $11.66

The other day I was in the mood for wine. I mean, more than usual...
Goodwill to the rescue! Everything here is perfect for a little wine & cheese party.
I saw these flattened wine bottle cheese plates at the Uptown Art Fair for $30+,
and this one was only $2.99!
I'll use the metal trivets to put a bottle of white & a bottle of red on,
and the other two for crackers, grapes and cheese. Yay wine!

Digging these candy/cupcake stands!

$11.68 for all three of these beauties
($2.99, $3.99, $3.99 + tax)
The hard part is deciding if I spray paint them & use them to put my jewelry on instead,
or actually bake something to put on them.

Shabby Chic Organization

$3.16 for all three
(marked $1.99 each, but they were half off that day)
I use these little ditties for my home office & in the kitchen, but even better is adding
salt scrub or cookie mix for a cute little gift.
Pop a bow on the top and you have a great gift!

Summer Sippin'

7 glasses for $.49 each = $3.65
I looked at these at Target at the beginning of summer for $2.49 each, and thought
they would be great for an afternoon with the girls.
Now I just have to find 6 lovely ladies to come over for some cocktails :)

OMG OMG OMG The SAK

This purse just made my day. Actually my month!!! This was $14.99 and is the most soft, beautiful leather ever! The best part? I just saw it on the SAK website for $199.00!!!

Goodwill is ahhhhmazing.

I love my Goodwill store. Just sayin'.

When I was a little kid, my mom (who was raising me by herself), would give me a dollar when we went shopping. I could buy what I wanted with it, wether it was a pair of socks or some pretty pencils or whatever. When I got old enough to go to school, we would always shop at Savers or Goodwill for school clothes because like she said, "you can get a whole wardrobe here for what one pair of Guess or Girbaud (lol remember those) jeans would cost". We would wander around looking through everything with a fine toothed comb, and although it did take longer - I was surprised to find that there were Guess Sweatshirts out there if you looked hard enough! And even a pair of Girbaud jeans with a rip in them on occasion, or a Benetton bag, or a LeSac purse, etc.. etc... I remember one time we bought a generic Members Only looking jacket and took an Adidas patch from something else, and Wallllah! I now had a brand new Adidas jacket that all my friends were jealous of, and nobody knew it was custom made for me. By my mom lol. P.S. I'm pretty sure that is brand infringement by the way Mom. But, shhhhh.... nobody tell, OK? :)

The point is, from the time I was very little I learned that you did not have to spend a lot of money to have nice things. I still live by this today and so I thought I would compile a blog of all my AMAZING DEALS that I get at the Goodwill. I wanted to show people that in this economy, you don't have to spend a lot or rack up credit card debt to furnish your home or dress stylishly. Heck, just last week I bought an unopened box of 100 non-latex gloves for work for $2. That is about a third of what I can get them at the supply company for! So you never know what you will find...

First things first - I have a serious addiction to the Goodwill store by my office.
It is in a more affluent area where even at the Goodwill, most of the cars are BMWs & Range Rovers. So I realize that that is not the typical area or the typical Goodwill store. But, to be fair I do frequent 2 other locations in Maplewood and Stillwater, Mn and they are just as good, but different. The Stillwater store has really cool old antiques and a lot of the shabby chic-ed furniture and household items. The Maplewood store must get more than the typical overstock from Target, because they always have great deals on household cleaners and new stuff from Target. (Oops I forgot about the Woodbury store - that one my friend Sarah told me about and it is a goodie also.)

Things You Should Know About Your Goodwill Store:

1. Make a list. Obviously you never know what they will have, and you will probably find a lot of little treasures you like. But, I always make a list of things I am looking for ie: a white button up shirt, 6 matching napkins, etc... just so I don't spend hours walking around aimlessly. And believe me, it can and will happen.

2. Know which location has more of what you are looking for. (Some are better for furniture, some are better for clothes, etc...)

3. Know what days they have specials. In Minnesota, Sunday & Mondays are 50% off a certain colored tag, and then on Tuesdays any merchandise that color is just $1.49, and Wednesday is Senior Day.

4. Have fun and shop often! (Not as often as I do... but then again I'm addicted... lol)
